The Surface ad, with its mostly monochromatic
color scheme and musical accompaniment that is decidedly heavy on the bass, is a
departure for Microsoft, whose advertising has generally focused on the human
side of computing -- think the ill-fated Bill Gates and
Jerry Seinfeld
campaign or those "I'm a PC ads."
